Community members from throughout Florence have shared their thoughts about Sally's service, leadership, and involvement in the community.

“Sally Wantz is compassionate, smart, honest and direct. She is the type of person you feel comfortable sharing your wants and desires with. She listens and thinks before responding. All qualities to be admired in anybody, especially as a mayor of a small community like Florence. Her many years on the City Council have exposed her to the inner workings of our city government, which is essential in order to successfully create change to policy. She understands the budget & its restraints. Therefore, knowing our financial resources, combined with her skill of working with people, and already having a working relationship with our city manager, fellow councilors, and staff. We couldn’t ask for a better representative, guiding us all as the head of the city.”

“Sally Wantz is a competent, capable, and thoughtful leader. She has experience serving as an elected official on the Florence City Council and has proven her ability to do the job well. She welcomes conversations with all City residents and is dedicated to seeing our community thrive. I am pleased to vote for her as Mayor!”

“I heard Sally Wantz was running for Mayor, and I hope to be among the first to endorse her. It has been my pleasure to observe Sally at work as a member of the City Council for the past several years. She comes prepared, understands each pending item, asks the right questions, and then votes decisively.
“Sally's support for our Elm Park Apartments and the Elm Park Early Learning Center, as the anchor of the City's $1.9 million NW9 neighborhood residential infrastructure grant, was crucial to our success. She supported making surplus city property available for the projects on favorable terms, but insisted that those terms be triggered only after the projects are completed. Both projects are now complete. We added 32 affordable housing units for households at or under 60% of the area median income. And up to 76 new early learning slots in two Head Start Classrooms and two Community Classrooms, where early learning will begin on September 8.
“Sally's passion for children and early education led her to join the board of Siuslaw Childcare Friends. This 501(c)(3) organization will steward the Community Rooms, provide financial aid to families at or under 60% of the area median income who could not otherwise afford early learning for their children at Elm Park Early Learning Center Community Rooms, and support development of the early learning workforce throughout the Siuslaw Region. Sally knows how the city runs. She knows how to get things done. And she cares. I enthusiastically support Sally Wantz as the next Mayor of the City of Florence.”

“You know what? You would make a great mayor. You’ve always got some bright things to say about our city. … such a profoundly wonderful attitude, what a booster for Florence!!”

“Sally, you connect with the city as if it were your own. Your passion is for the people of Florence, the various services available to the wonderful people of Florence, and the natural environment of the Central Pacific Coast in which Florence is nestled. Thank you, Sally. Keep up your amazing work.”
