Standards for Civil and Productive Community Conversations
The Florence City Council has adopted interpersonal and behavioral norms for interactions among councilors, staff, volunteers, committees, commissions, and agencies. I have adapted those principles to guide my interactions throughout this campaign and invite others to join me in promoting respectful and productive conversations about Florence's future.
I commit to:
· Assume good intentions.
· Disagree without being disagreeable.
· Make space for everyone to be heard.
· Listen with an open mind and an open heart.
· Communicate respectfully, openly, and honestly.
· Exercise humility and remain willing to learn.
· Admit my mistakes and work to correct them
· Respect differing viewpoints without personalizing disagreements.
· Build healthy relationships that best serve the City of Florence.
· Conduct this campaign in a non-partisan manner.
· Find joy in the process and encourage positive community engagement.
· Work hard, have fun, and help keep Florence moving forward as a safe, vibrant, and welcoming community for all.
Together, we can demonstrate that respectful dialogue and civic engagement remain the foundation of effective local governance.
Florence is a gem that I want to protect and improve where necessary. I will embrace innovation with sensitivity to our diverse and wonderful community. Just like the artist’s name for the sculpture at Hwy 101 & Hwy126, the Sky’s the Limit for Florence.
